This is an interesting "battle scene." My question is why would Frank confront Jack--the more powerful of the two here--rather than threaten Andi and complicate the situation for jack further--i..e the cliche of whether to save yourself or the damsel in distress type of decision that could bring out some deeper strands of their relationship without words. In other words, how "heroic(?) is Jack? Is he willing to sacrifice some of the things he stands for for her? orm ore in line with his character is he willing to
sacrifice some of his slacker cred in order to do what is necessary under the circumstances? Or is Andi just not that important to Jack--and the story itself--and she
meets her fate, or more interestingly, survives and has to live with the fact that Jack is not all that he seems to be. yes, I know--I like a bit of melodrama with my sci-fi; that being said, any good story, whether based in sports, history, sci-fi, etc... is all about characters. It is what makes trite movies that have been done over and over again like "knocked up" or something a little more special. And I love your characters--to the point where I am beginning to really care about them--so I guess what I ma trying to say is that don't lose them during your more climactic scenes. Under duress, feeling conflicted, being endangered--all of these types of circumstances serve as opportunities to open the door into the inner workings of your characters--their hearts, minds, and souls. SO, while I believe there will be numerous other challenges that Jack and Andi will face in your novel, every opportunity you get to embrace their strengths and flaws should be
taken advantage of. That is my two cents for the day. Again, these are things you know, but a little reminder along the way never hurt anyone

side note: this memorial day weekend is a busy one for me so I will probably not do much reading over this time. I may, but if I don't get back to you until tuesday, don't fret...if you actually do fret. enjoy a good one
thanks, mr. s.
