Chapter 17

Alright, I lied. No ass kicking quite yet... but it will go down in the next few chapters. I don't want ass kicking just to happen... but that kind of is what will happen... oh, well. It's hard out here for a science fiction writer.

Here is Chapter 17:

Chapter 17

SO I looked up "Appollyon" on some website and this is what I got

"The boy's name Apollo \a-pollo, ap(ol)-lo\ is pronounced er-POH-loh. It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "destroyer". Mythology: the Greek and Roman god of light, music, and poetry, who drives the sun across the sky in a carriage, and also rules over healing and prophecy, speaking through the famous oracle at Delphi. The name comes from Appollyon, Greek translation of the Hebrew word "abaddon", meaning "destroyer". Biblical: Apollo was one of the early Christian disciples. In modern philosophy, Apollo has come to symbolize the classical and intellectual aspects of thought. In contrast, Dionysus, the god of wine and revelry, represents the spontaneous and instinctual."

Just thought you wanted to know that I am doing my homework. So the name seems to meet the criteria of the being that you have introduced into this later chapter. IT has both biblical and Greek connections and your reader is expected to know it? How bbut explaining the background of the name? Perhaps George might be the resident academic who took his Latin and Greek studies more serious than the rest of his fraternity. While I am not sure this would be the best time to dig into this, I think at some point it would help lighten the load for the reader and give them some indication of this being's reason for being.

I am again a bit surprised at the laissez-faire attitude of your dynamic duo when faced with his "creature"; I thought they were doomed, particularly when I was reading between the lines of our being's cryptic message. However, both of them seemed relaxed--in comparison to George's slack- jawedness. I am just not sure where their cool under pressure mentality is coming from. Perhaps this is to be uncovered in the near future but these personalities might want to be fleshed out in earlier chapters to make their unique level of comfort more credible.
